In our regular ‘Member Profile’ feature, we put one of our Collective members in the spotlight, learning a little more about their experience, careers and roles within the Collective.
Q. Your area of expertise is Event Management & Delegate Management, could you explain a little about what your role involves?
Basically, anything logistical or involving the movement of lovely delegates at events is my department!
Q. Tell us a little about your early career – how did you get started?
I started as a Graduate Trainee in Swallow Hotels, working in Sales and Operations, then moved to work as In-House Events Organiser for DLA Piper Law Firm. From there, I moved to West Yorkshire Police and organised events for the Chief Constable, before setting up Mosaic Events 12 years ago.
Q. What are some of your career highlights so far?
Managing to run an events business for 12 years, especially during a recession. It sounds cheesy, but getting good results for some of our clients has been a real highlight. We tripled income for NATE (National Association of Teaching of English) in the past three years of working with them.
Q. In another life, what other job could you see yourself doing?
Being a Police Officer! I always wanted to do this but didn’t as I didn’t think I could handle the bad things that happen to people…however we now organise events for ACPO, which is great!
Q. When you’re not working hard on site, how do you like to unwind?
Walking with my dog, going to the Races with friends, cooking and photography. My favourite past time is sleep; I don’t get enough of this!
Q. Why was forming the WLC important for you?
I see it as a fantastic chance to work with people who are at the top of their game and learn from them. Most of all though, I get to work on more exciting events and get great results.
