Welcome to the White Label Collective (WLC) and to our brand new website. As this is our first blog, we’d like to take the opportunity to introduce ourselves – giving you a little more insight into who we are and what we’re about.
Who we are
The Collective are a carefully selected group of event professionals. Our members are people we value – for their skills, specialism and experience in their various fields. They are also people we trust and respect – for their attitude, dedication and professionalism. These are the people we would always chose to work with. They are the best in the industry.
How it all began
The world of events is small. Stay in the industry long enough and you will find yourself working alongside the same people time and again. WLC’s six company directors have over 100 years of collective industry experience. Over the years, they’ve been hired by countless production companies. Inevitably and fortunately, they have regularly found themselves on the same teams over the past three decades.
In this small world, over time you begin to form a pretty good idea of who you want to work with. When a great production team is assembled, events don’t just run smoothly, then run superbly. The makeup of a team has a profound effect – positive or negative – on the experience of all involved.
In 2013, our six future directors sat down to dinner and discussed a new way of working. With their combined experience, expertise and extensive list of contacts, they could start a new kind of production company. With their pooled resources, they could ensure every event has a fantastic production team – hand-picked to suit the specific client and event. Every team member would be someone they knew and trusted – good people who are good at what they do. Every team, in short, would be the ‘dream team’.
And so, White Label Collective was born.
What we stand for
We know we’re in danger of sounding like a party political statement here, but we are pretty passionate about what we stand for. After decades in the field, we have strong feelings and plenty of ideas about how this industry works…and what we can do to improve the experience for everyone involved.
‘It is always about your brand, not ours’
We put the client at the heart of everything we do. Our team becomes their team – fully aligned and integrated, with their aims and priorities at the top of our agenda. We work collaboratively with our clients to ensure a good return on their investment.
Transparent markups and clear accountability
We work on, what we believe are, the lowest markups in the industry. As a collective of freelancers, we don’t have an expensive HQ to make rent for or a permanent team of admin staff to keep. With such low overheads, we can minimise on the markups passed on to our clients. This means we can invest their money where it matters – on providing the best teams, venues and technology. We also operate in a wholly transparent manner. Our books are open, so our clients can see how their money is being spent, from the onset.
Valuing our people
Live events can be a gruelling line of work. Events professionals work long, anti-social hours, often for uncertain pay. It is hard work and those undertaking it should be rewarded properly for their efforts. We want to be the employer of choice for the best in the industry. We are achieving this by treating our people with respect. We listen to them, allow them to express themselves creatively, we look after them onsite, we pay them a premium rate and we pay it promptly.
The power of collaboration
The value of the collective is that the resource is bigger than the individuals in it. We believe the best ideas come from collaboration and so we listen to our people and to our clients. By pooling our creativity, knowledge and resources, we aim to provide an experience which is rewarding, fulfilling and successful for everyone involved.
We have begun an exciting journey with some successful projects under our belts and more great work underway. If you have any questions about WLC or if you think you’d like to work with us, please drop us a line.
